The market town of Cockermouth is one of only 51 towns in Great Britain designated as a ‘Gem’ town, is the birth place of famous poet William Wordsworth, the house is kept in beautiful condition and is great for a tour, you really feel like you’ve been taken back in time.
For beer lovers, the town is famous for Jennings’s Brewery, take a tour and sample some of their own brewed beers.
Cockermouth Castle also makes this market town an attractive place for visitors, although not often open for tours of the castle itself, it is still a lovely sight to see as you walk along the edge of the river Derwent.
